St Augustine’s Priory has been humming with activities this week, from a very British Bake-off on Monday to a surprise appearance from the ‘Spice Girls’ (aka Mrs Tippen and Junior school teachers!) at the Junior Talent show this morning.  Charities Week is a long-standing tradition at the school anticipated by current girls and staff and remembered fondly by past pupils.

The fundraising ranges from a very relaxed own clothes pyjama-themed day, to the thrilling game of ‘Assassins’, which has participants on the edge of their seats during break times – no one will be safe but the last woman (or man) standing!  On Monday girls could dress as up as a teacher, Tuesday saw a game of staff vs. Sixth Form dodgeball, Wednesday lunch time played host to an Eco Fashion Show, Thursday brought superheroes into the school and the week culminates today with the legendary senior talent show.

Central to all the excitement, though, are the causes for which we are raising money.  Each House thought hard about which organisation they would like to support; St Gabriel are raising funds for Amnesty International, St George for Young Minds, St Michael for Bowel Cancer UK and St Raphael for Guide Dogs for the Blind.  House Captains explained to the school in assembly last term how they made their decisions, and throughout all the raffles, bring-and-buy sales and mufti days what will be prevalent in everyone’s minds is how much is being raised for each cause.
