A new venture for Frankie Fearis

We have received some exciting news from past pupil Frankie Fearis.  Leaving after her A Levels, Frankie showed a great theatrical talent while at St Augustine’s Priory, contributing greatly to the life of the school and being especially committed to the Drama Department!  Now, nearly a decade after leaving us, Frankie writes to tell us of her journey from A Levels to her new venture – that of Casting Director.

‘On completing my A Levels I studied Drama and Physical Theatre at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. During my time at St Mary’s I applied myself to a multitude of possible opportunities, including marketing, stage managing and helping out in the costume department at the Royal Opera House. Through these various experiences I developed my love for casting.

Soon after graduating, I secured an internship at a casting agency and it was here that I learnt the basics of my current career. I continued my development at one of London’s leading children’s talent agencies, Alphabet Kidz, where I progressed from Bookings Co-Ordinator to Voice Over and Commercial Project Manager. During this time, I worked on numerous TV, Film, Commercial and Voice Over projects such as Topsy and Tim, The Numtums and Peppa Pig.

The next step was working at a larger casting agency, Mad Dog, where I stayed for over three years, gaining extensive knowledge, both on set and in a larger office environment. During my time at Mad Dog I supplied background artists and featured roles on major Warner Brothers productions and popular TV shows including Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, Darkest Hour and Tarzan.

After three years at Mad Dog I decided it was time to pursue my dream of becoming a Casting Director. I am currently working as a freelance Casting Assistant, working across Commercials, TV and Films and partaking in the entire casting process; from reading scripts, sourcing actors and many theatre trips to sitting in and helping direct and run the casting sessions.’

It is so good to hear Frankie’s news and wonderful to hear that she is pursuing her dream – and with great success!
