Lower IV girls run the Junior London Mini Marathon
Pupils raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital
At 6.30am next Sunday morning, 24th April, Lizzy Higham and Mia Simpson, Lower IV Alpha, have an early start to the day. They will be at Ealing Town Hall ready to be transported to central London to run the Junior London Mini Marathon. At 9.30am they will run the last three miles of the London Marathon, ahead of the elite runners, aiming for the finishing line in The Mall.
Not only will they be aiming to finish in a great time, but Lizzy and Mia will also be raising money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Mia and Lizzy have a just giving page at www.justgiving.com/Mia-and-Lizzy – do please donate!
The girls have both worked hard to gain their places in this race, taking part in the time trials in March in Gunnersbury Park and winning their places in the Team Ealing Under 13 team. They are training hard and are really looking forward to this great opportunity to raise money for this wonderful charity.
Mia and Lizzy are two of St Augustine’s Priory’s talented and hard-working athletes, training under Miss Lymburn and Miss Hales, P.E. Department, and taking part in the cross-country events organised for Ealing schools.
Miss Hales commented, ‘We are super proud of Lizzy and Mia and wish them every success. Everyone, please sponsor them!’
Mia commented on the prospect of running, ‘I’m excited and have been training hard and decided to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital because it is a good cause and this is a great opportunity to do so’.
Lizzy added, ‘I’m looking forward to running the Junior Mini London Marathon alongside the adults because it will be a great experience which I will remember forever!’
One of their friends, Poppy Hill, said ‘I will be watching on television and hope to see Lizzy and Mia cross the finishing line!’
If you would like to support Mia, Lizzy and Great Ormond Street Hospital a reminder that the Just Giving page set up by them is at www.justgiving.com/Mia-and-Lizzy
