A member of staff’s quest
In the lead up to the World’s Biggest Coffee morning here on Friday 30th September in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, a member of our Bursary team, Louise Naylor, is also raising money for the fight against cancer, this time in aid of Cancer Research.
Tomorrow night she is taking part together with members of her family in the Shine Night Walk, a night time half marathon walk through London. Here she writes about the reasons for her journey:
‘My grandfather has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is on a course of treatment for the next six months. His medical treatment to date has been faultless and he is currently continuing to recover well with no side effects from the chemotherapy. We hope and pray that this will continue.
After seeing how well he has been treated, it has spurred us on as a family to raise as much money as we can for Cancer Research.
After some thought into how to raise sponsorship, we decided to take part in the Shine Night Walk half marathon which is taking place on Saturday night / Sunday morning of the 24th / 25th September. As a family we have been in training over the last couple of months and we now feel ready to complete the 13.1 miles this coming weekend.
We are delighted that we have already raised over £1,000 knowing that this will help in the research to eradicate this terrible disease which affects so many people. If you would like to sponsor us and donate to this amazing cause the link is: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/The-PJMs
Any donation, however small, will be greatly appreciated. Please do not forget to add Gift Aid if appropriate. This will add a further 25% to your donation.
I am really looking forward to completing the walk whilst raising money for the best of causes.
The half marathon walk starts at 8.25pm from Southwark Park and finishes at Old Billingsgate. If you would like to find out more about the Shine Night Walk please go to

We wish Louise and her family every success in this venture and hope they enjoy the walk.
