Our allotment

Spring gains ground

Parents Mr Klein and Mrs Ransome have been working hard to prepare our allotment for the summer season. Watched by our curious chickens, Mr Klein and Mrs Ransome have been preparing the beds.  This is their report:

‘Mrs Ransome and I have prepared all the beds and made them ready for another exciting season of planting with the girls during the Summer Term.  The strawberry plants we planted last year look amazing and we’re hoping to start harvesting nice big juicy strawberries in this Summer Term and even having the girls try them after an allotment session.  The rhubarb is looking great too and hopefully we’ll get the kitchen to use it for a lunch in the next few weeks!

We’re very much looking forward to having a lot of classes out in the allotment.  We’re going to be planting a bigger variety of plants and less per variety than last year.  We’re also going to be building compost bins, a bug hotel and a few extra beds to start a herb garden!  All in all we’ve got a very exciting Summer Term ahead at a very special place in the already amazing grounds of St Augustine’s Priory!’
