The Bebras Competition

Mr Dellow, Head of e-Learning and ICT, here tells us about the recent computational challenge set by Oxford University, Bebras.

‘Each year senior school Computing students have the opportunity to take part Oxford University’s brilliant Bebras computational thinking challenge. This year over 140,000 students from around the world took part, making it the biggest yet. The girls are given 15 puzzles to complete in 40 minutes. The puzzles are a way of assessing computational thinking through problem solving, logical and analytical thinking as well as many other useful Computing based skills.

The challenges were slightly harder this year and although none of our girls made the finals event, there were some excellent achievements across all year groups. Below is an easy category puzzles taken from 2016, which is aimed at 10-12 year olds.’
