The St Augustine’s Priory Parents’ Committee (SAPPC) exists to support our school by raising additional funds through fun and social events for the benefit of pupils, staff and parents. The committee is formed of both parents and class representatives, who also liaise between other parents and the school on non-academic issues raised by any parent.
All monies raised by the SAPPC directly benefit the girls by providing the equipment and items needed to give the girls the best possible experience at the school. This has included the construction of the Sanctuary, which was fully funded by the committee, providing the girls a place for quiet reflection.
We organise and run a wide range of events. The key highlights of our calendar typically include Fireworks Night, Quiz Night and Association Day which are all open to family and friends and offer a lovely way to meet new parents. At the start of the new academic year, we organise an outside Moonlight Cinema night just for the girls and of course the annual Christmas Fair. Throughout the school year, we also run regular second-hand uniform sales in the Prep playground – for which clothing donations are most welcome (contact us by email with any queries).
Recent initiatives have included the Christmas Tree sales, personalised tea towels and providing the refreshments for the pupils’ Christmas events run within the school. As Chair of the SAPPC I would like to thank all the parents for your continued support, and especially those working on the committee for your dedication and resourcefulness!
Funds raised over the years have allowed us to fully fund, just to name a few:
- The Sanctuary in the Meadow. A space away from the main school, where the girls can go for quiet reflection, one-to- one-to-one pastoral work with Heads of Year and external agencies, or just to escape to with friends – supplementing the wonderful pastoral care already provided by the school.
- Authors to attend the school during book week.
- Additional cameras for the Photography Department.
- Updating the wooden play structure and tunnel loved by the girls in the meadow.
- The Escape Room event for Seniors.
The analemmatic sundial which was received with wholehearted and enthusiastic support from everyone at St Augustine’s Priory. As Ms Daya said, ‘I would like to thank the Parents’ Committee for generously funding the sundial, the Estates staff, the School Council, Mr and Mrs Brown and Mrs Raffray for their enthusiastic support.’
New members are very welcome to join us, or if you just want to suggest an idea for a fundraising or social event the committee could help organise, please contact us by email at parentscommittee@sapriory.com.
